How to Farm Motes of Harmony in Mists of Pandaria

Here are a few proven methods for quickly farming those all-important Motes of Harmony in Mists of Pandaria, the new expansion for World of Warcraft.

10 Motes of Harmony can be combined to make a Spirit of Harmony, which in turn can be used as a reagent for high-end crafting pieces or can be traded for patterns and plans of level 450, bind-on-equip Season 12 gear.

Spirit of Harmony is the definitive elemental material in Mists of Pandaria. All crafter professions will have use for it, while gatherers exchange it with Vale of Eternal Blossom vendors for Ironpaw tokens, Restored artifacts, Starlight Ink, Black and White Trillium ore and a dozen other useful trade goods.

Because of this, farming Motes of Harmony is one of the emerging Gold-generating strategies in Mists of Pandaria, especially for crafters looking to sell their wares at the auction house.

Via Mob Farming
YouTube user goclockworkriot shared a video showing a fast and efficient farming location in Howlingwind Carvern based on a tip she got from fellow Stormspire.net user Willifer.

"The mob is called Mischievous Snow Sprite... and are found all over the cave, some are under a Suspicious Snow Pile just walk over it or attack it to make the mob appear," said Willifer in the original tip.

The video is a visual guide on how to go about mass farming the mischievous sprites for their Motes of Harmony drops using a non-level 90 Retribution paladin equipped with sword and shield.

goclockworkriot has also made a newer video for farming with level 90 characters.

"Anecdotal evidence seems to suggest that higher level mobs have a higher chance of dropping Spirits of Harmony," goclockworkriot said in explaining why level-capped characters should probably follow this second farming guide instead of the first one.

She goes on to list her favorite Motes of Harmony farming spots, which covers Zan'vess southwest of the Dread Wastes zone, Kunzen Village northwest of the Heartland in the Valley of the Four Winds zone, and a high-density mob areas west of the Vale of Eternal Blossoms zone.

Via Songbell Seed Farming
As we previously mentioned, Motes of Harmony can also be literally farmed ala Farmville-style after reaching Revered reputation with the Tillers faction located in Halfhill in the Valley of the Four Winds zone.

Wowhead has a comprehensive guide on how to earn reputation with the Tillers faction through daily quests beginning with the quest chain Learn and Grow. Become Friendly with the Tillers and you will be granted your very own farm in Sunsong Ranch, where you will be able to plant seeds bought from Merchant Greenfield.

You will need to reach Revered reputation to be able to acquire the Songbell Seed, which ripens and yields one Mote of Harmony per day. Wowhead user jumbodog estimates that "farming takes roughly about five minutes a day... The limit to the number of plants you can have is 16 at exalted."
